Awapuhi plant growing in Southwest Georgia

The Hero Ingredient

Not ginger. Not turmeric.
Awapuhi.

Awapuhi is a tropical flower that produces red, pinecone-shaped bracts. Squeeze one, and out comes a thick, silky liquid — a natural shampoo and conditioner that Pacific Islanders have used on their hair for centuries.

We grow it right here in Southwest Georgia. The bracts are harvested at peak maturity and the liquid is extracted fresh. That liquid is the foundation of every single product we make.

Our Story

A family farm turned
botanical brand.

Kendall Botanicals started with Awapuhi already growing on the property in Southwest Georgia. The plant produces a natural shampoo and conditioner right from its flower bracts — and we built an entire product line around it.

Three generations of farming. One hero ingredient. Clean ingredients, a vertically integrated supply chain that starts in our own soil and ends in your hands.

The Science

Zerumbone: The Compound That Changes Everything

Zerumbone (C₁₅H₂₄O) is a sesquiterpene found only in Zingiber zerumbet — not in common ginger, not in turmeric, not in any other species. We don't make medical claims. We let the published science speak for itself.

About Awapuhi

Awapuhi is a tropical plant in the ginger family — but it's completely different from the ginger you cook with. It produces beautiful red, pinecone-shaped flowers called bracts. Squeeze one, and out comes a thick, silky liquid that works as a natural shampoo and conditioner.

What makes Awapuhi special is a natural compound called zerumbone — found only in this species. It's what gives the plant its unique properties and sets it apart from every other ginger variety used in beauty products today.

In Our Formulations

  • Present in every Kendall Botanicals product as our signature hero ingredient
  • Grown and harvested on our family farm in Southwest Georgia
  • Natural surfactant and conditioner — cleanses and conditions without synthetics
  • Contains zerumbone — a sesquiterpene unique to Z. zerumbet
  • Small batch, seasonal harvest — traceable to the specific harvest cycle
